A ‘Letter to Nature’ in Barcelona

Nature breathes life into our cities. As part of a new campaign to highlight the importance of urban nature to our everyday lives, C40 has invited mayors, artists, cultural influencers and other thought leaders from cities around the world to write a ‘Letter to Nature’.

Read what Mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau has to say about nature in her city:

Mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau is pictured smiling in an orange suit jacket. Surrounded by the picture is a green border, with illustrated leaves at each four corners of the image. Centred at the top of the green border are the words “A letter to nature in BARCELONA”, centred at the bottom of the border (immediately below the aforementioned text) is text that reads “#AFutureWithNature”.

“The city of Barcelona is working hard on the challenges posed by the conservation of nature on Earth, climate change and the health of citizens. That is why we have advanced policies already in place, and are now endowed with the Pla Natura Barcelona 2030 (Nature Plan). This strategic and participatory instrument defines and plans the objectives and commitments of the municipal government in relation to the increase of city green infrastructure, with the aim of conserving biodiversity, and giving residents the opportunity to enjoy and improve urban nature and take care of it. With this plan, Barcelona wants to add its contribution to the global challenges of the world’s cities.”
